Please join us in celebrating the sixth annual “Art of Photography” to be presented at the 2013 Erie Summer Festival of the Arts on Saturday, July 13th.
"The Art of Photography" is an exciting new program that celebrates the art form of photography from traditional film through the new and dynamic field of digital cameras and the digital darkroom. This event will take place in the Erie Bayfront Convention Center Room 110.
The program will consist of lectures and workshops by top professional photographers, and is being sponsored by Hunt’s Photo and Video, Erie Photography Club and Photographic Arts Society of Northwestern Pa. – PASNWPA.
Doug Hansgate, from Tonawanda, NY will be conducting a lecture called: "Off-Camera Flash.” Doug will show how to configure and use a simple off-camera flash set-up to create beautiful imagery of studio quality. Doug owns AMP Studios and has been shooting professionally for over 35 years. Doug teaches throughout the northeast area and is a member of NAPP, PPA, PPSNYS and Buffalo Niagara Photographers Guild.
Jim Lyon has quite a story to tell. His lecture is “30 Years as a Kodak Research Labs Photographer - From the KODAK E-6 Film Camera to the 14N Digital Camera" (How the last years of KODAK were shaped by market forces that led to the Digital Age.) Jim is retired after 31 years with Kodak in the Research Labs where he was involved in the development and testing of new products. Jim studied photography at the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University and held positions as a commercial photographer and also scientific photographer at SUNY Binghamton. Jim resides in Bloomfield NY and continues to teach.
Mike Dziak hales from Buffalo, NY and his lecture is titled “Sports and Action Photography.”This program will cover camera and lens choice, camera settings and point of view to achieve maximum impact of your action photos. Mike taught photography for 20 plus years at the University of Buffalo and is a member of the National Press Photographers Association. Jim shot the World University Games in Buffalo and was the Buffalo Bandits Lacrosse photographer. Jim has won multiple awards at the NFRCC and NECCC conventions and also spoke at these convention as well as the Philadelphia PSA Regional and Kodak Camera Clubs
Professionals will be on hand to answer questions. The Photographic Arts Society of Northwestern PA and the Erie Photography Club will be present with society and club information, photo exhibits and experts in the field.
Lectures will be held in the Erie Bayfront Convention Center Room 110. All activities will be informal, recommended for teens and adults, and admission is free.
